Renowned winemaker Tertius Boshoff crafted Stellenrust 53 with grapes from the estate’s 53-year-old vines. These gnarled heirlooms yield precious little fruit, but the grapes they do produce are seriously concentrated and deliver major flavor impact in the final wine. Back at Stellenrust, Tertius barrel fermented the Chenin Blanc for nine months. This process imparted a luscious, creamy texture, plus added vanilla and butterscotch characters to the wine’s ripe pear and tropical fruit flavors.
